Never Too Many Grab Bars

Recently one of our customers ordered three identical grab bars. I remember thinking that maybe she was buying one for herself, one for her parents, and one for her in-laws. Revisiting it now, I bet she was ordering all three for use in the same bathroom.

There are so many spots in the bathroom where you can use an extra hand. We all know that tile or linoleum floors are like ice rinks when they get wet. A grab bar placed on the wall by where you enter and exit the tub can give the extra support needed to be safe.

Anyone who has a bad back knows that sometimes it feels impossible to get up and down from the toilet. A regular grab bar can do a good job in this situation, but a Curve Grab Bar was designed to meet this particular need.

A grab bar can also be mounted above the tub where it can be used to provide leverage to get out of the tub. It can even be used in conjunction with a tub rail for a slip free boost from the water.

A grab bar is an inexpensive and versatile way to make your bathroom safer.

Shower Benches for Shaving

posted by ShowerBenchesPlus @ 5:51 AM
March 3, 2011

Just last week, the groundhog did not see his shadow thus predicting an early spring. For us women in the Northeastern United States, spring and summer signals a need to be much more diligent about shaving our legs. A shower bench can be a great help in making shaving easier.

By sitting on a shower bench to shave your legs, you will be able to take your time without worry of becoming overly tired. Taking your time leads to fewer nicks and cuts. Nicks and cuts are especially dangerous for folks on blood thinners like Plavix and Coumadin. These injuries also present a danger to those with diabetes because they have difficulty healing.

Shaving in the shower without a shower bench also becomes a slip and fall risk. You are bending at the waist trying to reach your ankles and it is easy to become light headed. You may even find yourself balancing on one foot to get the job done. None of this is good for preventing falls.

Get a shower bench now before spring is sprung and you’ll be able to shave your legs without worry.

Buy Shower Benches Brand New

posted by ShowerBenchesPlus @ 6:39 AM
February 8, 2011

The whole point of using a shower bench is to safely meet your hygiene needs. It doesn’t seem very hygienic to use a shower bench or shower chair that you have purchased at a yard sale, an estate auction, or from someone on EBAY.

By purchasing a shower bench from a reputable dealer, you can be sure that you are receiving a brand new product. You can rest assured that your shower bench is clean. You can also be certain that you have the full manufacturer’s warranty for the product that you are purchasing. Although incredibly well-built, from time to time there may be a problem with the shower bench, and you will feel better that in the rare circumstance that there is a defect, the manufacturer will make it right.

Using a used shower bench is essentially like taking a public restroom toilet and bringing it into your home. You don’t know who sat on it before you, but you know that they were bare-bottomed. You can not relax on your shower bench if you know that Joe down the street was using it last week. No amount of Lysol can make you feel comfortable about using Joe’s old shower bench. That is why you should buy your shower bench brand new!

Three Essentials for a Safer Bathroom

posted by ShowerBenchesPlus @ 9:02 AM
January 19, 2011

Everyone knows that your bathroom is the most dangerous room in your home. Yearly, the majority of household accidents occur in this room. What can we do to make the bathroom safer?

I believe that there are three essentials for a safer bathroom—a shower bench or shower chair, a shower mat, and a grab bar. Here are some basics to know about each of these safety tools.

Shower benches (sometimes also referred to as shower stools, shower chairs, or shower seats) offer a safe place to sit and bathe. Four legs with rubber-tipped, anti-slip feet keep you and the shower bench safe and sound.

A shower mat or bath mat is placed on the floor outside the tub or shower to make stepping in and out of the shower easier and safer. These shower mats are available in wooden styles or in more traditional rug-type styles.

Grab bars provide a safe grip to aid in your bathroom routine. Suction cup grab bars are mounted without tools, but remain incredibly strong. Grab bars can be mounted anywhere that you can use a helping hand.

Don’t hesitate to pickup all three essentials for a safer bathroom today.

Progress in Safety

“You’ve come a long way baby” was an ad campaign used in the 1970s and 1980s to demonstrate how far women have come in recent years. Even though the campaign focused on a cigarette company, the sentiment can be carried over to so many items in today’s society. One area where tremendous progress has been made is in bath safety implements for those with mobility issues.

Basic safety chairs such as the Otter Bathing System and the Pediatric Dolphin make bath time safer for children while taking the strain off of parents and caregivers.

Bath lifts are available in many styles. Some use water power to raise and lower patients. Others use green technology like rechargeable batteries to get the job done. The Bellavita Bath Lift is loaded with features to make meeting hygiene needs easier.

Embrace progress and utilize the future of bath safety with one of the items we have discussed today. You’ll be glad that you did!

Shower Safely

posted by ShowerBenchesPlus @ 20:09 PM
January 12, 2011

Use of a sturdy shower bench or shower chair can really make your shower so much safer. No more worries about your feet sliding on the sudsy tub or shower floor. Four legs are far sturdier than two, especially when the feet are covered with rubberized tips. Shaving becomes a snap and the shower becomes the rejuvenating experience it was intended to be.

A shower mat can make the first and last step in to and out of the shower a steady one. By giving you a firm foothold to finish drying off, a shower mat is the final piece of the bath safety puzzle.

So what are you waiting for? It is not expensive to purchase the two safety items discussed and implement them in your bathroom. The cost of a broken arm or leg comes down to so much more than dollars and cents. For the elderly, a fall can mean a lengthy rehabilitation at an assisted living facility. Give you and your family a safe bath experience by purchasing a shower bench and a shower mat today. You’ll be glad you did!
