Buy Shower Benches Brand New

posted by ShowerBenchesPlus @ 6:39 AM

The whole point of using a shower bench is to safely meet your hygiene needs. It doesn’t seem very hygienic to use a shower bench or shower chair that you have purchased at a yard sale, an estate auction, or from someone on EBAY.

By purchasing a shower bench from a reputable dealer, you can be sure that you are receiving a brand new product. You can rest assured that your shower bench is clean. You can also be certain that you have the full manufacturer’s warranty for the product that you are purchasing. Although incredibly well-built, from time to time there may be a problem with the shower bench, and you will feel better that in the rare circumstance that there is a defect, the manufacturer will make it right.

Using a used shower bench is essentially like taking a public restroom toilet and bringing it into your home. You don’t know who sat on it before you, but you know that they were bare-bottomed. You can not relax on your shower bench if you know that Joe down the street was using it last week. No amount of Lysol can make you feel comfortable about using Joe’s old shower bench. That is why you should buy your shower bench brand new!

Three Essentials for a Safer Bathroom

posted by ShowerBenchesPlus @ 9:02 AM
January 19, 2011

Everyone knows that your bathroom is the most dangerous room in your home. Yearly, the majority of household accidents occur in this room. What can we do to make the bathroom safer?

I believe that there are three essentials for a safer bathroom—a shower bench or shower chair, a shower mat, and a grab bar. Here are some basics to know about each of these safety tools.

Shower benches (sometimes also referred to as shower stools, shower chairs, or shower seats) offer a safe place to sit and bathe. Four legs with rubber-tipped, anti-slip feet keep you and the shower bench safe and sound.

A shower mat or bath mat is placed on the floor outside the tub or shower to make stepping in and out of the shower easier and safer. These shower mats are available in wooden styles or in more traditional rug-type styles.

Grab bars provide a safe grip to aid in your bathroom routine. Suction cup grab bars are mounted without tools, but remain incredibly strong. Grab bars can be mounted anywhere that you can use a helping hand.

Don’t hesitate to pickup all three essentials for a safer bathroom today.

Shower Safely

January 12, 2011

Use of a sturdy shower bench or shower chair can really make your shower so much safer. No more worries about your feet sliding on the sudsy tub or shower floor. Four legs are far sturdier than two, especially when the feet are covered with rubberized tips. Shaving becomes a snap and the shower becomes the rejuvenating experience it was intended to be.

A shower mat can make the first and last step in to and out of the shower a steady one. By giving you a firm foothold to finish drying off, a shower mat is the final piece of the bath safety puzzle.

So what are you waiting for? It is not expensive to purchase the two safety items discussed and implement them in your bathroom. The cost of a broken arm or leg comes down to so much more than dollars and cents. For the elderly, a fall can mean a lengthy rehabilitation at an assisted living facility. Give you and your family a safe bath experience by purchasing a shower bench and a shower mat today. You’ll be glad you did!

I’ve been searching for a gift idea to finish up my Christmas shopping for my mother-in-law. I’ve been looking for something useful, but kind of luxorious, and have decided to buy her a Teak Adjustable Height Bath Stool.

If you’ve read any of my previous blogs, you already know how much I love teak–for it’s warmth and luxury feeling. This Teak Adjustable Height Bath Stool is fantastic for a small shower stall and is lightweight. The adjustable legs will make it a perfect size for my mother-in-law who is short in stature.

This bath stool is perfect for shaving one’s legs or for putting on pantyhose, if you decide to simply use it in the bathroom as a dressing stool. The Teak Adjustable Height Bath Stool won’t take up much space in your bathroom or bedroom and it is very strong and sturdy. You will appreciate its appearance and design in or out of your shower.

The Teak Adjustable Height Bath Stool is a great gift for anyone on your Christmas list.

Transfer Bench with Toilet

posted by ShowerBenchesPlus @ 9:06 AM
December 9, 2010

A transfer bench is a necessity for anyone confined to a wheelchair. By creating a bridge from the wheelchair to shower, a transfer bench enables you to shower with ease. Adding a toilet to the transfer bench makes the transfer bench even more efficient.

A combination toilet/transfer bench eliminates the need for two separate pieces of equipment. This is a good idea for several reasons. When you only have to purchase one item, you save money. Also one toilet/transfer bench combination takes up less space than a separate toilet and transfer bench.

Another advantage with the toilet/transfer bench combination is being able to take care of nature’s call without a rush to the toilet from the shower. The removable pan makes relieving oneself neater than having an “accident” on a traditional transfer bench.

Use of a toilet/transfer bench combination will make shower time more enjoyable for you and your caregiver.

Post Surgery Shower Chair

posted by ShowerBenchesPlus @ 8:58 AM
December 8, 2010

My dad finally had his knee replacement surgery the day before Thanksgiving. After a five day hospital stay, he was sent home to recuperate with help from my mom and the home health nurses. His knee is healing well and he is proceeding with his physical therapy right at home. One thing he is anxious to do is take an actual shower. As he is prohibited to shower until his staples come out, he has a little while longer to wait.

When Dad is finally able to shower, he will be using a shower chair. Since his stamina is decreased from surgery and being bedridden, a shower chair will offer him the comfort and stability he needs. It will be very important for him to be still in the shower and not slip, which could cause damage to his healing knee. By using his walker to get to the tub and being able to be safely seated before turning on the water, he dramatically decreases his chances of a fall.

I think I’ll get him a shower sprayer so he can use it in conjunction with his shower chair. He’ll be able to direct the water exclusively to where he wants it to go. A shower chair and a shower sprayer are great tools to make surgery rehabilitation easier.
